141. Bring Him Praises

1 My soul was lost in ways of sin,
And there my Jesus found me,
With matchless grace he threw his arms
Of tender love around me.
He saw me on the brink of woe,
Amid sin's darkest mazes
And saved me from eternal death—
For this I bring him praises.

2 My life is crowned with happiness
My earth is now a heaven;
My soul is filled with perfect peace,
By Christ, the Saviour, given.
In rev'rent awe and humble fear
I bow myself before him
And, lost in wonder, love and praise,
There worship and adore him!

3 Oh precious love, that gave a life
So full as that of Jesus!
Oh wond'rous blood, that cleanses us,
And, from defilement frees us!
My soul flows out in praise to Christ,
The Lord of my salvation—
Let all the blood-washed bring to him
Eternal acclamation!
