Notes: Rather than re-presenting the content of the psalm, the hymn “Give to the Winds Your Fears” serves as a sounding board and conversation partner. The cursing of the psalmist is accompanied by a sense of tremorous anxiety and fear. The hymn whispers to the psalmist, and to us, to bring all cares to God. When using the hymn stanzas with the psalm text, introduce the reading by playing the hymn on an instrument. Continue with soft instrumental music under the reading so that there is not a break between the reading and the singing.
