The James P. Boyce Centennial Library houses approximately 5,600 hymnals and related companions dating from the 16th century to the present day, primarily covering British and American hymnody across multiple denominations, in addition to hundreds of books about hymnody, church music, and ethnodoxology, and subscriptions to significant periodicals and digital databases. The collection includes The Whole Booke of Psalmes published by Thomas Este (1594), A New Version of the Psalms of David by Tate & Brady (1698), 30 original hymn collections published by the Wesleys, plus early American tune books (Lowell Mason, William Walker, and others), sunday school and gospel songbooks, a significant representation of African American spirituals, and multi-lingual songbooks. Other represented languages include French, German, Russian, Spanish, and Korean.
