Featured Hymn for July

Hymnary.org will be providing fully-treated hymns--hymns that contain text, scores, author biographies, notes about the hymn, bulletin blurbs, worship ideas, and various other related resources. Everything you might need!

Our first featured hymn, For the Beauty of the Earth, was meant not only as a song of thanksgiving, but as the only thing we could give Christ in return for his mercy and love: a hymn of praise laid upon the altar as a sacrifice. The only one of Folliott Pierpoint’s hymns still sung today, he was inspired to write it while amid scenery beloved by many – the green rolling hills of England, and the banks of the winding River Avon.
