This collection consists of hymnals and music books in the German language, or bilingual German/English, printed in North America between 1730 and 1920. It includes German Baptist and German Catholic hymnals. These are all North American imprints; there are very few European hymnals. The only English-language hymnals are Amish, Mennonite, and Hutterite; they were all published after 1920. Of special interest is Ephrata hymnology, and books and hymnals (some as microfilm or photocopy) dealing with pietistic hymns. Date range: 18th-early 20th c.
