Death Year: 1981

Reginald Barrett-Ayres joined the faculty of the Music Department at the University of Aberdeen in 1951 and was head of the department from 1956-1981. He was author of Joseph Haydn and the String Quartet (London, Barrie & Jenkins, 1974). He also wrote a large range of compositions including operas, choral works, as well as hymns.
