Burns, Jabez, D.D., the well known Baptist Minister, was born at Oldham, Lancashire, Dec. 18, 1805, and was one of the first Ministers of Religion in London who vigorously advocated Total Abstinence. He edited several Temperance publications, and employed a versatile and forcible pen in the cause of Temperance, both in prose and verse. He d. Jan. 31, 1876.

Jabez Burns (December 18, 1805 – January 31, 1876) was an English nonconformist divine and Christian philosophical writer.He was one of the first clergymen of any denomination to preach teetotalism from the pulpit.
