Nathan Chytraeus (whose German surname was Kochhafe) was a brother of the famed theologian David Chrytaeus. He was born 15 March 1543 in Monzingen in the Lower Palatinate, where his father was preacher. After an extensive education he became a Professor at Rostock, and then Recor of the Gymnasium in Bremen, where he died 27 February 1599. Among other talents, he was a considerable poet, and also published an annotated version of Buchanan's Latin Psalm paraphrases (Herborn, 1592).
