Johan Ulrich Erhard was born 1687 in Wildberg and died August 15, 1718. A professor at the college in Stuttgart, he edited ,cite>The Singing Celestial Nightingale: 100 Spiritual Songs (Stuttgart, 1706), later reissued as Collection of Spiritual Songs (Geißlingen, 1789) with omissions from the first edition and a section of additional songs that begins with "My Contentment."
