Ada Garnett

Short Name: Ada Garnett
Full Name: Garnett, Ada, 1866?-1931
Birth Year (est.): 1866
Death Year: 1931

Nisbett, Ada Garnett. (London, Ontario, 1866/1867--1931). Salvation Army. Of the 36 songs which she contributed anonymously to the Canadian War Cry, only the earliest, "I have a home that is fairer than day" entered the Army's international collections. She wrote it in 1893 for the first "farewell meeting" held at Lindsay, Ont. She served as an officer at various Ontario and Quebec points before her marriage in 1893 to James Nisbett. His death in 1914, before their six children had grown up, prevented her from again assuming responsibilities outside her home, but not from writing.
