Graham, Sarah. (Lindsay, Ontario, c. 1854--1889). Salvation Army. This amateur song-writer joined the Army as a result of unexpectedly hearing two of its members sing a duet of hers at a local meeting. Most of the songs she proceeded to write achieved only regional use, but a few found their way into the Army's international repertoire. Her associates tried, but failed, to help her overcome her depression which overtook her after her fiance's sudden death, which, they felt, hastened her own.
