Matilda Boyle Stevenson née Davis, daughter of the Rev. G. H. Davis, LL.D., formerly Secretary of the Religious Tract Society, was b. at Weymouth, Sept., 1838, and was married in 1863 to the Rev. J. F. Stevenson, D.D., Cong. Minister, late of Brixton. Her hymn, "Sweet flowers are blooming in God's sight" (Spring), first appeared in W. R. Stevenson's School Hyl., 1880
