Robert Stigall was born in 1934 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and graduated from Syracuse University (B. Mus. In Organ, 1957) and Union Theological Seminary’s School of Sacred Music (M.S.M. 1962). From 1962 to 1963 he served as organist and choir director at the Mount Lebanon Methodist Church, near Pittsburgh, and in 1963 joined the staff of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, North Carolina, where he is director of music and organist. His wife, Anne, is his associate.
