Trower, Walter John, D.D., born April 5, 1804, was educated at Oxford, where he graduated in high honours in 1826, and became a Fellow of Oriel College. After holding some minor appointments, he was consecrated Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway in 1848. Retiring in 1859, he was appointed Bp. of Gibraltar in 1863. Subsequently he was Rector of Ashington, Chichester. He died Oct. 24, 1887. He was the author of several works, including the S. P. C. K. Epistles and Gospels, &c.
