Albertina Walker (b 29 Aug. 1929, Chicago, IL | d 8 Oct. 2010, Chicago, IL), daughter of Camilla Coleman and Reuben Walker, was raised in West Point Baptist Church, Chicago, mentored by Mahalia Jackson. She toured with the Robert Anderson Singers, then at the retirement of Anderson (1951), rebranded them as the Caravans, which helped launch careers for Bessie Griffin, Dorothy Norwood, Inez Andrews, James Cleveland, and Shirley Caesar. Her first solo album was God Is Love (1975), and she recorded multiple duet albums with James Cleveland, especially Please Be Patient with Me (1979) with Larry Roberts and Trinity All Nations. She formed the group Sisters of Glory (1994) and came to be known as the Queen of Gospel.
