Ward, James Edward. (Barrie, Ontario, October 1, 1883--April 13, 1958, Toronto, Ont.). Anglican. University of Toronto, Oxford University: B.A., 1913; M.A., 1915. Pastorates at Waltham (1912-1913) and Yiewsley (1913-1915), England; army chaplaincy, 1915-1919; work in U.S.A., 1921-1926; rector at St. Stephen's, Toronto, 1926-1958; superintendent of missions to Jews, 1939-1958. As well as publishing five books of prose and verse, he explored the possibilities of radio for spreading the faith, and wrote and produced many experimental radio plays on Christian themes, acting as a pioneer in this developing dield.
