Born in Falster, Denmark in 1842, emigrated to American in 1863. Lived first in Racine, Wis. and then moving to Madison. He was a pastor for a Norwegian Lutheran Church in Cambridge, Iowa for awhile before organizing the first Danish Lutheran Church in America in the city of Indianapolis in 1868.
