O Durchbrecher aller Bande

Hymnal: Lutheran Worship #284 (1982) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D First Line: Hail, O once rejected Jesus! Lyrics: 1 Hail, O once rejected Jesus! Hail,O Galilean King! You who suffered to release us, You our free salvation bring. Hail, O universal Savior, You have borne our sins and shame; By your merits we find favor; Life is given through your name. 2 Paschal Lamb, by God appointed, All our sins on you were laid; By almighty love anointed, You have full atonement made. Every sin has been forgiven Through the virtue of your blood; Open is the gate of heaven, Peace between mankind and God. 3 Jesus, hail, enthroned in glory, There forever to abide! All the heav'nly host adore you, Seated at your Father's side, Where for sinners you are pleading While our place preparing there, Ever for us interceding Till we in your glory share. 4 Worship, honor, pow'r, and blessing You are worthy to receive; Loudest praises, without ceasing, We are privileged to give, While the bright angelic spirits, Robed in heav'n's resplendent rays, Help to sing our Savior's merits, Help to chant Immanuel's praise. Lord, Thy Death and Passion Give

Author: Johann Heerman, 1585-1647 Hymnal: Hymnal and Order of Service #55b (1901) Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Lyrics: 1 Lord, Thy death and passion give Strength and comfort in my need. Every hour while here I live, On Thy love my soul shall feed. Thou didst death for me endure, And I fly all thoughts impure; Thinking on Thy bitter pains, Hushed in prayer my heart remains. 2 Yes, Thy cross hath power to heal All the wounds of sin and strife. Lost in Thee, my heart doth feel Sudden warmth and nobler life, In my saddest, darkest grief, Let Thy sweetness bring relief. Thou who camest but to save, Thou who fearest not the grave! 3Lord, in Thee I place my trust, Thou art my Defense and Tower; Death Thou treadest in the dust, O'er my soul he hath no power. That I may have part in Thee, Help and save and comfort me; Give me of Thy grace and might, Resurrection, life and light! 4 Fount of good, within me dwell, For the peace Thy presence sheds Keeps us safe in conflict fell, Charms the pain from dying beds. Hide me safe within Thine arm, Where no foe can hurt or harm; Whoso, Lord, in Thee doth rest, He hath conquered, he is blest. Topics: Lent Languages: English Tune Title: O DURCHBRECHER ALLER BANDE

Hail, O Source of Every Blessing

Author: Basil Woodd, 1760-1831 Hymnal: Lutheran Worship #84 (1982) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D First Line: Hail, O Source of ev'ry blessing Lyrics: 1 Hail, O Source of ev'ry blessing, Father of all humankind! Gentiles now, your grace possessing, In your courts admission find. Grateful now we fall before you, In your Church obtain a place, See your glory and adore you; Praise your truth and laud your grace. 2 Once far off but now invited, We approach your sacred throne; In your covenant united, Reconciled, redeemed, made one. Now revealed to eastern sages, See the Star of Mercy shine; Myst'ry hid in former ages, Myst'ry great of love divine. 3 Hail, O all-inviting Savior! Gentiles now their off'rings bring; In your temples seek your favor, Jesus Christ, our Lord and King. May we, body, soul, and spirit, Live devoted to your praise, Glorious realms of bliss inherit, Grateful anthems ever raise! Topics: Epiphany; Witness Languages: English Tune Title: O DURCHBRECHER
