Person Name: Anon Author of "When God Of Old Came Down" in Favourite Hymns of the Church In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1792 - 1860 Composer of "STRACATHRO" in Favourite Hymns of the Church Born: 1792, Glasgow, Scotland. Died: January 20, 1860, Glasgow, Scotland. Hutcheson was a merchant in Glasgow, and a member of St. George’s parish church. An amateur composer and founding member of the Glasgow Diletanti Society, he published an essay on church music, and a number of hymn tunes, in Christian Vespers (1832). --www.hymntime.com/tch
