Person Name: Anon. Author of "Prayer" in The Gospel Hymn Book In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1833 - 1912 Composer of "ZELTON" in Gloria Deo Samuel M. Bixby was born on May 27, 1833 in Haverhill, New Hampshire. His company, S. M. Bixby & Company, manufactured shoe blackings and shoe dressings, but music was his passion. He was also a Sunday school superintendent and choir leader. He died on March 11, 1912 in Fordham, New York.
