George W. Bungay
1818 - 1892 Hymnal Number: d141 Author of "Teacher, watch the little feet" in The Gem Born: July 22, 1818, Walsham le Willows, Suffolk, England. Died: July 10, 1892, Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Bungay moved to America at age nine. As a young man, he married Louise Whitney of New York City, with whom he had five children. After her death, he taught school in Canada, later moved to Buffalo, New York, then founded the Independent newspaper in Ilion, New York. When the paper moved to Utica, New York, it was renamed the Central Independent. Bungay also wrote for New York Tribune under Horace Greeley, and edited the weekly journal Metropolitan. In 1849, Bungay married Catherine Herkimer, and had three children with her.
Bungay was a well known lecturer, poet, abolitionist, and temperance advocate. He worked in the New York custom house (1873-87). His works include:

1819 - 1901 Person Name: William Oland Bourne Hymnal Number: d169 Author of "Glory in the highest sing" in The Gem Bourne was born on June 11, 1819, in Germantown, Pennsylvania. He was a social reformer and author, lyricist, printer and editor of The Soldiers’ Friend, a newsletter for Civil War veterans. He served as chaplain of Central Park Hospital, a military hospital in New York City. He died on June 6, 1901 at Montclair, New Jersey.

1821 - 1861 Hymnal Number: d50 Author of "How loving is Jesus, Who came from the sky" in The Gem Ballantyne, Randall Hunter, sister of R. M. Ballantyne, the novelist, was born July 8, 1821, and died in August, 1861. Her Heir of Glory was published in 1849, Mabel Grant, 1854, and others. Her hymn, "How loving is Jesus, Who came from the sky" (The Love of Jesus ), in The Church Hymnary (Scotch), 1898, appeared in her Hymns about Jesus, 1842.
