Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 36 hymnals Topics: Blessedness future, anticipated; Christians their life and experience; Death anticipation of; Hope in anticipation of death Lyrics: 1 'Tis sweet to rest in lively hope, That when my change shall come, Angels will hover round my bed, And waft my spirit home! 2 There shall my disimprison'd soul Behold Him and adore; Be with his likeness satisfied, And grieve and sin no more: 3 Shall see Him wear that very flesh On which my guilt was lain; His love intense, His merit fresh, As though but newly slain. 4 Soon, too, my slumbering dust shall hear The trumpet's quick'ning sound; And, by my Saviour's power rebuilt, At His right hand be found. 5 These eyes shall see Him in that day, The God that died for me! And all my rising bones shall say, Lord, who is like to Thee! 6 If such the views which grace unfolds, Weak as it is below, What raptures must the Church above, In Jesus' presence know.

To Jesus, the crown of my hope

Appears in 161 hymnals Topics: Blessedness future, anticipated; Christians their life and experience; Death anticipation of; Heaven anticipation of; Hope in anticipation of death Lyrics: 1 To Jesus, the crown of my hope, My soul is in haste to be gone; Oh, bear me, ye cherubim, up, And waft me away to His throne. 2 My Saviour, whom absent I love; Whom not having seen, I adore" whose name is exalted above all glory, dominion, and power-- 3 Dissolve Thou these bands that detain My soul from her portion in Thee, Ah! strike off this adamant chain, And make me eternally free. 4 When that happy era begins, When array'd in Thy glories I shine, Nor grieve any more, by my sins, The bosom on which I recline-- 5 Oh, then shall the veil be removed! And round me Thy brightness be pour'd; I shall meet Him whom absent I loved, I shall see Whom unseen I adored. 6 And then, never more shall the fears, The trials, temptations, and woes, Which darken this valley of tears, Intrude on my blissful repose.
