Jesus' Love Unbounded

Author: Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf Meter: 6.5.6.5 D Appears in 9 hymnals Topics: Confession of Sin Lyrics: 1 Jesus’ love unbounded none can e’er explain, yet we, his disciples, often cause him pain; even they forget him who have seen his face; even they still grieve him who enjoy his grace. 2 While we your past dealings gratefully review, we’re assured your mercies are each morning new; pardon our transgressions, hear our earnest cry; us in soul and body heal and sanctify. 3 All our days, O Jesus, hallow unto you; may our lives be given in your service true; let us all experience, to the end of days, your abiding presence and your loving grace. Scripture: Lamentations 3:21-25 Used With Tune: BERTHELSDORF Text Sources: Mor. tr. (1746); Recast Mor. (1788), alt.

The Lord Jehovah reigns

Author: Isaac Watts Meter: 6.6.6.6.4.4.4.4 Appears in 269 hymnals Topics: Sin and chastisement of saints Lyrics: The Lord Jehovah reigns, His throne is built on high; The garments he assumes Are light and majesty: His glories shine With beams so bright, No mortal eye Can bear the sight. The thunders of his hand Keep the wide world in awe; His wrath and justice stand To guard his holy law: And where his love Resolves to bless, His truth confirms And seals the grace. Through all his ancient works Surprising wisdom shines, Confounds the powers of hell, And breaks their cursed designs: Strong is his arm, And shall fulfil His great decrees, His sovereign will. And can this mighty King Of glory condescend? And will he write his name, "My Father and my Friend?" I love his name, I love his word; Join all my powers And praise the Lord. Scripture: Psalm 78:32-72

Above the voices of the world around me

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith (b. 1926) Meter: 11.10.11.10 D Appears in 4 hymnals Topics: Sin Lyrics: 1 Above the voices of the world around me, my hopes and dreams, my cares and loves and fears, the long-awaited call of Christ has found me, the voice of Jesus echoes in my ears: 'I gave my life to break the cords that bind you, I rose from death to set your spirit free; tum from your sins and put the past behind you, take up your cross and come and follow me.' 2 What can I offer him who calls me to him? Only the wastes of sin and self and shame; a mind confused, a heart that never knew him, a tongue unskilled at naming Jesus' name. Yet at your call, and hungry for your blessing, drawn by that cross which moves a heart of stone, now Lord I come, my tale of sin confessing, and in repentance turn to you alone. 3 Lord, I believe; help now my unbelieving; I come in faith because your promise stands. Your word of pardon and of peace receiving, all that I am I place within your hands. Let me become what you shall choose to make me, freed from the guilt and burden of my sins. Jesus is mine, who never shall forsake me, and in his love my new-born life begins. Scripture: Mark 1:14-20 Used With Tune: ASTON ROWANT
