The God of Abraham praise

Author: Thomas Olivers, 1725-99 Hymnal: Together in Song #125 (1999) Meter: 6.6.8.4 D Topics: Worship Processional Entrance Lyrics: 1 The God of Abraham praise who reigns enthroned above, ancient of everlasting days, and God of love: The Lord, the great I AM by earth and heaven confessed! We bow and bless the sacred name for ever blest. 2 The God of Abraham praise, whose all-sufficient grace shall guide us all our happy days in all our ways. He calls us each a friend, he calls himself our God; and he shall save us to the end through Jesus' blood. 3 He by Himself has sworn, we on his oath depend: we shall, on eagles' wings upborne, to heaven ascend: we shall behold his face, we shall his power adore, and sing the wonders of his grace for evermore. 4 The God who reigns on high the great archangels sing, and "Holy, holy, holy,' cry, 'almighty King!' who was and is the same and evermore shall be, the Lord, our Father, great I AM eternally. 5 Before the Saviour's face the ransomed nations bow, all praising his almighty grace, for ever new. He shows his wounds of love, they kindle to a flame and sound through all the worlds above the slaughtered Lamb. 6 The whole triumphant host gives thanks to God on high; 'Hail, Father, Son and Spirit blest!' they ever cry. Hail, Abraham's God and ours! with heaven our songs we raise: all might and majesty are yours, and endless praise. Scripture: Exodus 3:5-16 Languages: English Tune Title: LEONI

The people of the Hebrews With palms before Thee went, Our praise and prayer and anthems Before Thee we present. 3 To Thee before Thy passion They sang their hymns of praise; To Thee now high exalted Our melody we raise. O worship the King all-glorious above

Author: Robert Grant, 1779-1838 Hymnal: Together in Song #133 (1999) Meter: 5.5.5.5.6.5.6.5 Topics: Worship Processional Entrance Lyrics: 1 O worship the King all-glorious above, O gratefully sing his power and his love: our shield and defender, the ancient of days, pavilioned in splendour, and girded with praise. 2 O tell of his might, O sing of his grace, whose robe is the light, whose canopy space; his chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form, and dark is his path on the wings of the storm. 3 The earth with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, your power has founded of old, established it fast by a changeless decree, and round it has cast, like a mantle, the sea. 4 Your bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light, it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, and sweetly distils in the dew and the rain. 5 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in you do we trust, nor find you to fail: your mercies how tender, how firm to the end, Our maker, defender, redeemer and friend. 6 O measureless might, ineffable love. While angels delight to hymn you above, the humbler creation, though faltering their praise, With true adoration shall sing all their days. Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:6-8 Languages: English Tune Title: HANOVER

Praise, my soul, the king of heaven

Author: Henry Francis Lyte, 1793-1847 Hymnal: Together in Song #134 (1999) Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.7 Topics: Worship Processional Entrance Lyrics: 1 Praise, my soul, the king of heaven; to his feet your tribute bring; ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, who like me his praise should sing? Praise him, praise him, hallelujah, praise the everlasting king! 2 Praise him for his grace and favour to his people in distress; praise him still the same as ever, slow to chide and swift to bless: praise him, praise him, hallelujah, glorious in his faithfulness! 3 Fatherlike he tends and spares us; well our feeble frame he knows; in his hands he gently bears us, rescues us from all our foes: praise him, praise him, hallelujah, widely as his mercy flows! 4 Frail as summer's flower we flourish, blows the wind and it is gone; but while mortals rise and perish, God endures unchanging on. praise him, praise him, hallelujah, praise the high eternal one! 5 Angels, help us to adore him, you behold him face to face; sun and moon, bow down before him, dwellers all in time and space: praise him, praise him, hallelujah, praise with us the God of grace! Scripture: Psalm 103:1-9 Languages: English Tune Title: PRAISE, MY SOUL
