1899 - 1993 Person Name: Jacob Trapp, 1899-1992 Author of "Let Freedom Span Both East and West" in Singing the Living Tradition Trapp, Rev. Jacob, S.T.D. (Muskegon, Michigan, April 12, 1899-- ). He was educated at Valparaiso University and The Pacific Unitarian School for the Ministry (later called The Starr King School for the Ministry). He was ordained in 1929 and served Unitarian churches in Salt Lake City, Utah; Denver, Colorado; and Summit, New Jersey. In 1932 he wrote a hymn beginning "Wonders still the world shall witness," which is included, with some revisions, in Hymns of the Spirit, 1937.

1929 - 2004 Translator of "En Krist' ne estas sud' aŭ nord'" in TTT-Himnaro Cigneta Evangelical German pastor, writer, translator (largely of religious songs), ecumenical activist, and one of the most influential and prolific hymnal compilers in Esperanto. He was a member of the editorial committee responsible for the 1971 Protestant hymnal Adoru Kantante, the sole compiler of the ten-installment Tero kaj Ĉielo Kantu (later republished in three volumes), and one of the three members of "Kloster Kirchberg", the editorial board that produced the 2001 ecumenical Esperanto hymnal Adoru - Ekumena Diserva Libro.
Burkhardt was honored in a 368-page Festschrift, Esperante kaj Ekumene, Fest-libro por la 75a naskiĝ-tago de Adolf Burkhardt. With the other members of Kloster Kirchberg, he shared in the 2002 FAME-foundation's Aalener Esperanto-Kulturpreis.
