O Give the LORD Wholehearted Praise

Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 13 hymnals Topics: Year B, Ordinary Time after Pentecost, August 14-20 First Line: O give the LORD whole-hearted praise Lyrics: 1 O give the LORD wholehearted praise. To him thanksgiving I will bring; with all his people I will raise my voice and of his glory sing. 2 His saints delight to search and trace his mighty works and wondrous ways. Majestic glory, boundless grace, and righteousness his work displays. 3 God's wondrous deeds of faithfulness his people ever keep in mind. His works of love and graciousness reveal that God the LORD is kind. 4 God's promise shall forever stand; he cares for those who trust his word. Upon his saints his mighty hand the wealth of nations has conferred. 5 His works are true and just indeed; his precepts are forever sure. In truth and righteousness decreed, they shall forevermore endure. 6 By God's own hand redemption came; his covenant sure no change can know. Let all revere his holy name in heaven above and earth below. 7 In reverence and in godly fear we find the key to wisdom's ways; the wise his holy name revere. Through endless ages sound his praise! Scripture: Psalm 111 Used With Tune: GERMANY Text Sources: Psalter, 1912, alt.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, Jesu, true and living bread, Jesu, true and living bread. 2 Here our humblest homage pay we, here in loving reverence bow; here for faith's discernment pray we, lest we fail to know thee now. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, thou art here, we ask not how, thou art here, we ask not how. 3 Though the lowliest form doth veil thee as of old in Bethlehem, here as there thine angels hail thee, branch and flower of Jesse's stem. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, we in worship join with them, we in worship join with them. 4 Paschal Lamb, thine off'ring, finished once for all when thou wast slain, in its fullness undiminished shall for evermore remain, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, cleansing souls from ev'ry stain, cleansing souls from ev'ry stain. 5 Life-imparting heav'nly manna, stricken rock with streaming side, heav'n and earth with loud hosanna worship thee, the Lamb who died, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, ris'n, ascended, glorified!, ris'n, ascended, glorified! Jesus the Lord of love and life

Author: J. E. Seddon (1915-1983) Appears in 3 hymnals Topics: Pentecost 14 The Family Lyrics: 1 Jesus the Lord of love and life, draw near to bless this man and wife; as they are now in love made one, let your good will for them be done. 2 Give them each day your peace and joy, let no dark clouds these gifts destroy; in growing trust may love endure, to keep their marriage bond secure. 3 As they have vowed to have and hold, each by the other be consoled; in wealth or want, in health or pain, till death shall part, let love remain. 4 Deepen, O Lord, their love for you, and in that love, their own renew; each in the other find delight, as lives and interests now unite. 5 Be to them both a guide and friend, through all the years their home defend; Jesus the Lord of love and life, stay near and bless this man and wife. Used With Tune: MARYTON

Happy are they, they who love God

Author: C. Coffin (1676-1749); R. Bridges (1844-1930) Appears in 31 hymnals Topics: Pentecost 14 The Family Lyrics: 1 Happy are they, they that love God, whose hearts have Christ confessed; who by his cross have found their life, beneath his yoke, their rest. 2 Glad is the praise, sweet are the songs, when they together sing; and strong the prayers that bow the ear of heaven’s eternal king. 3 Christ gives their homes pleasure and peace and makes their loves his own; but O what weeds the evil one has in God's garden sown! 4 Sad were our lot, evil this earth did not its sorrows prove the path by which the sheep may find the fold of Jesus’ love. 5 Then shall they know, they that love him, how good shall come from pain; and death itself cannot unbind their happiness again. Used With Tune: BINCHESTER
