Thank You, God, for Water, Soil, and Air

Author: Brian Wren Hymnal: Moravian Book of Worship #654 (1995) Meter: 9.10.10.9 Topics: Stewardship and Service Lyrics: 1 Thank you, God, for water, soil and air, large gifts supporting ev'rything that lives. Forgive our spoiling and abuse of them. Help us renew the face of the earth. 2 Thank you, God, for minerals and ores, the basis of all building, wealth, and speed. Forgive our reckless plundering and waste. Help us renew the face of the earth. 3 Thank you, God, for priceless energy, stored in each atom, gathered from the sun. Forgive our greed and carelessness of pow'r. Help us renew the face of the earth. 4 Thank you, God, for weaving nature's life into a seamless robe, a fragile whole. Forgive our haste that tampers unaware. Help us renew the face of the earth. 5 Thank you, God, for making planet earth a home for us and ages yet unborn. Help us to share, consider, save, and store. Come and renew the face of the earth. Scripture: Genesis 1 Languages: English Tune Title: AMSTEIN

Touch the Earth Lightly

Author: Shirley Erena Murray Hymnal: Moravian Book of Worship #655 (1995) Meter: 5.5.10 D Topics: Stewardship and Service Lyrics: 1 Touch the earth lightly, use the earth gently, nourish the life of the world in our care: gift of great wonder, ours to surrender, trust for the children tomorrow will bear. 2 We who endanger, who create hunger, agents of death for all creatures that live, we who would foster clouds of disaster - God of our planet, forestall and forgive! 3 Let there be greening, birth from the burning, water that blesses and air that is sweet, health in God’s garden, hope in God’s children, regeneration that peace will complete. 4 God of all living, God of all loving, God of the seedling, the snow and the sun, teach us, deflect us, Christ reconnect us, using us gently, and making us one. Scripture: Hosea 4:1-3 Languages: English Tune Title: TENDERNESS

The Earth Is the Lord's

Author: Erik Routley Hymnal: Moravian Book of Worship #656 (1995) Meter: Irregular Topics: Stewardship and Service First Line: The earth is the Lord's and its fulness Lyrics: 1 The earth is the Lord's and its fulness, its mystery, splendor and wealth, its bounty, fertility, kindness, its beauty, its reason, its health; then who is this wise-hearted steward who faithfully carries this trust? The generous, gentle, obedient, the patient, the honest, the just. 2 The earth is the Lord's own possession, not the tithe, nor the half, but the whole: he made it, sustains it, and leads it in love to its heavenly goal; but the harmony of the creation is broken by self-hood and vice when the anxious, incompetent steward in fear keeps back part of the price. 3 The church is the Lord's, and its people the Body of Christ, who impart the word and the feast and the friendship, (his head and his hands and his heart!) Where sisters and brothers together in laughter and worship and prayer give all to each other, then heaven is present on earth with them there. 4 All life is the Lord's, who in giving his Son, gave him glory again - for he who surrendered his spirit is he who ascended to reign; the talent when buried was withered, the manna, when hoarded, decayed, but Love meets us in resurrection when love gives itself unafraid. Scripture: Psalm 24:1-2 Languages: English Tune Title: MOUNT MORRIS, NEW

Master, No Offering

Author: Edwin P. Parker, 1836-1925 Hymnal: Worship and Service Hymnal #449 (1957) Topics: The Christian Way of Life Stewardship and Service Lyrics: 1 Master, no offering, Costly and sweet, May we, like Magdalene, Lay at Thy feet; Yet may love's incense rise, Sweeter than sacrifice, Dear Lord, to Thee, Dear Lord, to Thee. 2 Daily our lives would show Weakness made strong, Toilsome and gloomy ways Brightened with song; Some deeds of kindness done, Some souls by patience won, Dear Lord, to Thee, Dear Lord, to thee. 3 Some word of hope for hearts Burdened with fears, Some balm of peace for eyes Blinded with tears: Some dews of mercy shed, Some wayward footstep led, Dear Lord, to Thee, Dear Lord, to Thee. 4 Thus, in Thy service, Lord, Till eventide Closes the day of life, May we abide! And when earth's labors cease, Bid us depart in peace, Dear Lord, to Thee, Dear Lord, to Thee. Amen. Languages: English Tune Title: LOVE'S OFFERING

O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee

Author: Washington Gladden, 1836-1918 Hymnal: Worship and Service Hymnal #454 (1957) Topics: The Christian Way of Life Stewardship and Service Lyrics: 1 O Master, let me walk with Thee In lowly paths of service free; Tell me Thy secret; help me bear The strain of toil, the fret of care. 2 Help me the slow of heart to move By some clear, winning word of love; Teach me the wayward feet to stay, And guide them in the homeward way. 3 Teach me Thy patience! still with Thee In closer, dearer company, In work that keeps faith sweet and strong, In trust that triumphs over wrong; 4 In hope that sends a shining ray Far down the future's broad'ning way, In peace that only Thou canst give, With Thee, O Master, let me live.
