The Lord My Shepherd Guards Me Well

Author: Carl P. Daw, Jr., 1944- Hymnal: Worship and Rejoice #73 (2003) Meter: 8.6.8.6.8.6 Lyrics: 1 The Lord my Shepherd guards me well, and all my wants are fed: amid green pastures made to lie, beside still waters led. My careworn soul grows strong and whole when God's true path I tread. 2 Though I should walk in darkest ways through valleys like the grave, no evil shall I ever fear; your presence makes me brave. On my behalf your rod and staff assure me you will save. 3 For me a table has been spread where all my foes can see; you bathe my head with fragrant oil to soothe and honor me. My heart and cup are both filled up with joyful ecstasy. 4 Your steadfast love will follow me to shield me all my days and bring me to your holy house, redeemed from error's ways, my whole life long to join the song of those who sing God's praise. Topics: Jesus Christ Majesty Scripture: John 14:16 Languages: English Tune Title: BROTHER JAMES' AIR

That Thou, O LORD, Are Ever Nigh

Author: Harriet Auber Hymnal: Psalms of Grace #75c (2022) Meter: 8.6.8.6.8.6 Lyrics: 1 That Thou, O LORD, art ever nigh, Though veil'd in awful majesty, Thy mighty works declare; Thy hand this earthly frame upholds, Thine eye the universe beholds, With providential care. 2 Thou set up, and pull down; To Thee the monarch owes his crown, The conqueror his wreath; In Thee all creatures live and move; Thou reign'st supreme in heaven above, And in the earth beneath. 3 Great King of kings, and LORD of lords, Whose hand chastises and rewards, Thee only we adore; To Thee the voice of praise shall rise, In hallelujahs to the skies, When time shall be no more. God Is My Shepherd

Author: Lavon Bayler Hymnal: Chalice Hymnal #79 (1995) Meter: 8.6.8.6.8.6 First Line: God is my shepherd, I'll not want Lyrics: 1 God is my shepherd, I'll not want, I feed in pastures green. God grants me rest and bids me drink from waters calm and clean. Through daily tasks, I'm blessed and led by one I have not one seen. 2 Restored to life each morning new, I rise up from the dust to follow God whose presence gives me confidence and trust. I praise the name of God today; in God I put my trust. 3 When I must pass through shadowed vale, where loss and death await, I will not fear for God is there, my shepherd strong and great, whose rod and staff will comfort me and all my fears abate. 4 No enemy can overcome, no power on earth defeat the one anointed by God's grace and fed with manna sweet. My cup is filled and overflows as I my Savior greet. 5 Goodness and mercy all my days will surely follow me; and where God reigns in heaven and earth, my dwelling place will be. My shepherd blesses, cares, and leads through all eternity.
