For ever here my rest shall be

Author: C. Wesley, 1707-1788 Hymnal: Methodist Hymn and Tune Book #473 (1917) Topics: Purity Of Heart Lyrics: 1 For ever here my rest shall be, Close to Thy bleeding side; This all my hope, and all my plea, For me the Saviour died! 2 My dying Saviour, and my God, Fountain for guilt and sin, Sprinkle me ever with Thy blood, And cleanse, and keep me clean. 3 Wash me, and make me thus Thine own; Wash me, and mine Thou art; Wash me, but not my feet alone, My hands, my head, my heart. 4 The atonement of Thy blood apply, Till faith to sight improve, Till hope in full fruition die, And all my soul be love. Come Down, O Love Divine

Author: Richard Frederick Littledale (1833-1890); Bianco da Siena (d. 1434) Hymnal: Church Hymnary (4th ed.) #489 (2005) Meter: 6.6.11 D Topics: Purity Of Heart Lyrics: 1 Come down, O Love Divine, seek out this soul of mine, and visit it with your own ardour glowing; O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear, and kindle it, your holy flame bestowing. 2 O let it freely burn, till earthly passions turn to dust and ashes, in its heat consuming; and let your glorious light shine ever on my sight, and clothe me round, the while my path illuming. 3 Let holy charity my outward vesture be, and lowliness becomes my inner clothing; true lowliness of heart, which takes the humbler part, and o'er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing. 4 And so the yearning strong, with which the soul will long, shall far outpass the power of human telling; we cannot guess its grace, till he become the place wherein the Holy Spirit makes a dwelling. Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 Languages: English Tune Title: DOWN AMPNEY

God of all power, and truth, and grace

Author: C. Wesley, 1707-1788 Hymnal: Methodist Hymn and Tune Book #491 (1917) Topics: Purity Of Heart Lyrics: 1 God of all power, and truth, and grace, Which shall from age to age endure, Whose word, when heaven and earth shall pass, Remains and stands for ever sure; 2 That I Thy mercy may proclaim, That all mankind Thy truth may see, Hallow Thy great and glorious name, And perfect holiness in me. 3 Purge me from every sinful blot; My idols all be cast aside; Cleanse me from every sinful thought, From all the filth of self and pride. 4 Give me a new, a perfect heart, From doubt, and fear, and sorrow free; The mind which was in Christ impart, And let my spirit cleave to Thee. 5 O that I now, from sin released, Thy word may to the utmost prove, Enter into the promised rest, The Canaan of Thy perfect love!
