Bacon was born on April 27, 1908, Talihina, Oklahoma of Choctaw Indian heritage. He is sometimes confused with Osage Chief Bacon Rind. Wilkin was baptized in 1937 at Sherman, Texas, by Burton Coffman. He sang baritone in the Lone Star Quartet, a Gospel group that performed on radio station KWFT in Wichita Falls, Texas, and later on station WPTF in Raleigh, North Carolina. By 1945, Bacon had moved into ministry, preaching in Arlington, Texas; Fort Smith, Arkansas; Corsicana and Dallas, Texas; and Duncan and Talihina, Oklahoma. He died on October 9, 1981, Talihina, Oklahoma. NN

He also studied at Harvard University and Union Theological Seminary, New York City After ordination (1923), Wiant became head of the music department at Yenching University, Peking (1923-1951). He was pastor of St. Paul’s Church, Delaware, Ohio (1953-1955), then minister of music at Mahoning Methodist Church, Youngstown, Ohio. 1816 - 1872 Topics: Living the Christian Life Commitment and Dedication to Service Author of "I'll go in the strength of the Lord" in Complete Mission Praise Turney, Edward, D.D., an American Baptist minister, was born at Easton (then Weston), Connecticut, May 6, 1816, and graduated at Madison University, New York. He was successively pastor at Hartford and at Granville, Ohio (1842-47); Professor of Biblical Criticism, Madison University, 1850, and also of Biblical Literature at Fairmount Theological Seminary, Cincinnati (1853-58). Subsequently he taught in Washington, District of Columbia. He died at Washington, Sept. 28, 1872. He published Baptismal Hymn, 1862, and Memorial Poems and Hymns, 1864. Of these hymns the following are in common use:— 1. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus. Peace and Rest in Jesus. 2. Come to Jesus, little one (1860). Invitation. 3. I will go in the strength of the Lord (circa 1860). Missions. In the Church Missionary Gleaner (English) in 1861. 4. O love divine, 0 matchless grace (1864). Divine Love.
