Jesus, the Son of God, who once

Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 3 hymnals Lyrics: 1 Jesus, the Son of God, who once for us his life resign'd, now lives in heav’n, our great High Priest, and never-dying friend. 2 Through life, through death, let us to him with constancy adhere; faith shall supply new strength, and hope shall banish ev’ry fear. 3 To human weakness not severe is our High Priest above; his heart o’erflows with tenderness, his bowels melt with love. 4 With sympathetic feelings touch'd, he knows our feeble frame; he knows what sore temptations are, for he has felt the same. 5 But though he felt temptation’s pow’r, unconquer'd he remain'd; nor, ‘midst the frailty of our frame, by sin was ever stain'd. 6 As, in the days of feeble flesh, he pour'd forth cries and tears; so, though exalted, still he feels what ev’ry Christian bears. 7 Then let us, with a filial heart, come boldly to the throne of grace supreme, to tell our griefs, and all our wants make known: 8 That mercy we may there obtain for sins and errors past, and grace to help in time of need, while days of trial last. Scripture: Hebrews 4:14-16 Used With Tune: TALLIS'S ORDINAL

O Thou Whose feet have climbed life's hill

Author: Louis FitzGerald Benson Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 46 hymnals Lyrics: 1 O Thou Whose feet have climbed life's hill, And trod the path of youth, Our Saviour and our Brother still, Now lead us into truth. 2 The call is Thine: be Thou the Way, And give us men, to guide; Let wisdom broaden with the day, Let human faith abide. 3 Who learn of Thee the truth shall find, Who follow, gain the goal: With reverence crown the earnest mind, And speak within the soul. 4 Awake the purpose high which strives, And, falling, stands again; Confirm the will of eager lives To quit themselves like men. 5 Thy life the bond of fellowship, Thy love the law that rules, Thy Name, proclaimed by every lip, The Master of our schools. Amen. Topics: The Church The Ministry Used With Tune: TALLIS' ORDINAL

Earth thou dost visit, watering it

Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 3 hymnals Lyrics: 9 Earth thou dost visit, watering it; thou mak’st it rich to grow with God’s full flood; thou corn provid’st, when thou prepar'st it so. 10 Its ridges thou dost water well, its furrows down dost press; thou mak'st it soft with plenteous rain, its spring thou dost bless. 11 So thou the year most liberally dost with thy goodness crown; and all thy paths abundantly on us drop fatness down. 12 They drop upon the pastures wide, that in the desert lie; the little hills on every side rejoice right pleasantly. 13 With flocks the pastures clothed be, the vales with corn are clad; and now they shout and sing to thee, for thou hast made them glad. Scripture: Psalm 65:9-13 Used With Tune: TALLIS'S ORDINAL

Come, Spirit blest, Creator, come

Author: Rabanus Maurus, c. 776-856; Anon. Appears in 1 hymnal Lyrics: 1 Come, Spirit blest, Creator, come from our bright heavenly throne, come, take possession of our souls and make them all your own. 2 For you are called the Paraclete, best gift of God above, the living spring, the living fire, sweet ointment and true love. 3 And you are seven-fold in your grace, finger of God's right hand, his promise rightly teaching us to speak and understand. 4 Guide our dark minds with your blest light, with love our hearts inflame, and with your strength which never fails, confirm our mortal frame. 5 Far from us drive our deadly foe; true peace unto us bring; and through all perils lead us safe beneath your sacred wing. 6 Through you may we the Father know, through you the eternal Son, and you the Spirit of them both, Thrice-blessèd Three in One. 7 All glory to the Father be, with his co-equal Son: glory to you, great Paraclete, while endless ages run.
