Till He Come

Author: E. H. Bickersteth Hymnal: Christ in Song #653 (1908) First Line: "Till He come!" O let the words Lyrics: 1 "Till He come!" O let the words Linger on the trembling chords; Let the "little while" between, In their golden light be seen; Let us think how heav'n and home Lie beyond that "Till He come!" 2 When the weary ones we love, From the cares of earth remove, When their words of hope and cheer Fall no longer on our ear, Hush! be ev'ry murmur dumb, It is only "Till He come!" 3 Clouds and darkness round us press; Would we have one sorrow less? All the sharpness of the cross, All that tells the world is loss, Death and darkness and the tomb, Pain us only "Till He come!" Hasten, Lord, the Glorious Time

Author: Harriet Auber Hymnal: The Cyber Hymnal #2468 Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Lyrics: 1. Hasten, Lord, the glorious time When, beneath Messiah’s sway, Every nation, every clime, Shall the Gospel call obey. Mightiest kings His power shall own, Heathen tribes His name adore; Satan and his host o’erthrown, Bound in chains, shall hurt no more. 2. As when soft and gentle showers Fall upon the thirsty plain, Springing grass and blooming flowers, Clothe the wilderness again; So Thy Spirit shall descend, Softening every stony heart, And its sweetest influence lend, All that’s lovely to impart. 3. Then shall wars and tumults cease, Then be banished grief and pain, Righteousness and joy and peace, Undisturbed shall ever reign. Bless we, then, our gracious Lord, Ever praise His glorious hame; All His mighty acts record; All His wondrous love proclaim. This hymn was originally written in 4-line verses. With a tune of a different meter, the omitted verse 6 can be used, as well: Time shall sun and moon obscure, Seas be dried, and rocks be riv’n. But His reign shall still endure, Endless as the days of Heav’n. Languages: English Tune Title: ELTHAM
