O God, what offering shall I give

Author: Joachim Lange (1670-1744); John Wesley (1703-91) Appears in 59 hymnals Topics: The life of holiness Consecration and service Lyrics: 1 O God, what offering shall I give To thee, the Lord of earth and skies? My spirit, soul and flesh receive, A holy, living sacrifice; Small as it is, ‘tis all my store, More shouldst thou have if I had more. 2 Now, O my God, thou hast my soul, No longer mine, but thine I am; Guard thou thine own, possess it whole, Cheer it with hope, with love inflame; Thou hast my spirit, there display Thy glory to the perfect day. 3 Thou hast my flesh, thy hallowed shrine, Devoted solely to thy will; Here let thy light for ever shine, This house still let thy presence fill; O Source of life, live, dwell and move In me, till all my life be love! 4 Send down thy likeness from above, And let this my adorning be; Clothe me with wisdom, patience, love, With lowliness and purity, Than gold and pearls more precious far, And brighter than the morning star. 5 Lord, arm me with thy Spirit’s might, Since I am called by thy great name; In thee let all my thoughts unite, Of all my works be thou the aim; Thy love attend me all my days, And my sole business be thy praise.

Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O ruler of all. Used With Tune: SLANE Text Sources: Irish, ca. 8th century

If so poor a soul as I

Author: Charles Wesley (1707-88) Appears in 8 hymnals Topics: The life of holiness Consecration and service Lyrics: 1 If so poor a soul as I May to thy great glory live, All my actions sanctify, All my words and thoughts receive; Claim me for thy service, claim All I have and all I am. 2 Take my soul and body’s powers, Take my memory, mind and will, All my goods and all my hours, All I know and all I feel, All I think or speak or do; Take my heart, but make it new! 3 Now, O God, thine own I am, Now I give thee back thine own; Freedom, friends and health and fame Consecrate to thee alone; Thine I live, thrice happy I, Happier still if thine I die.

O Praise the LORD, for It Is Good

Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 14 hymnals Topics: Occasional Services Dedication / Consecration / Anniversary Lyrics: 1 O praise the LORD, for it is good to sing unto our God; 'tis right and pleasant for God's saints to tell his praise abroad. The LORD our God builds up the church, finds those who draw apart; God binds their wounds and gently leads; he heals the broken heart. 2 Our Lord is great: he calls by name and counts the stars of night; God's wisdom is unsearchable, and wondrous is his might. The LORD upholds the poor and meek but brings the wicked low; sing praise to God who sends the rain, whose care the cattle know. 3 No human might, no earthly pride delights the LORD above; in those who fear him God delights, in those who trust his love. O Zion, praise the LORD your God, his wondrous love confess; God is your glory and your strength, he will your children bless. Scripture: Psalm 147 Used With Tune: MINERVA Text Sources: Psalter, 1912, alt.
