You Servants of God

Author: Charles Wesley Hymnal: Chalice Hymnal #110 (1995) Meter: 10.10.11.11 Topics: Proclamation First Line: You servants of God, your Savior proclaim Lyrics: 1 Your servants of God, your Savior proclaim, and publish abroad that wonderful name: the name all-victorious of Jesus extol; who, sovereign and glorious, now rules over all. 2 God truth reaches high, almighty to save; and yet remains nigh: God's presence we have. The great congregation God's triumphs shall praise, ascribing salvation to Jesus always. 3 Salvation to God who sits on the throne! Let all cry aloud for what God has done. The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim; still veiling their faces, they worship the Lamb. 4 Then let us adore and render God's right, all glory and power, all wisdom and might, all honor and blessing with angels above, and thanks never-ceasing, and infinite love. Begin, my tongue, some heavenly theme

Author: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748 Hymnal: Together in Song #116 (1999) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Topics: Proclamation: Witness Lyrics: 1 Begin, my tongue, some heavenly theme and speak some boundless thing, the mighty works or mightier name, of our eternal king. 2 Tell of his wondrous faithfulness, and sound his power abroad; sing the sweet promise of his grace and our fulfilling God. 3 His very word of grace is strong as that which built the skies; the voice that rolls the stars along speaks all the promises. 4 He said, "Let wide the heaven be spread,' and heaven was stretched abroad; 'Abram, I'll be your God,' he said and he was Abram's God. 5 O might I hear your heavenly tongue but whisper, 'You are mine'; those gentle words should raise my song to notes almost divine. 6 How would my leaping heart rejoice, and think my heaven secure! I trust the all-creating voice, and faith desires no more. Scripture: Genesis 15:5 Languages: English Tune Title: ST MAGNUS

God's Holy Spirit Came

Author: Michael Denham; Mary Jackson Cathey Hymnal: Singing the New Testament #118 (2008) Meter: 6.6.8.4 D Topics: Proclamation/Testimony Lyrics: 1 God's Holy Spirit came with rushing wind and fire, Christ's presence here to comfort, bless, and to inspire. The Spirit thus began God's holy work on earth at Pentecost, a gift that gave the church its birth. 2 God sent the Spirit forth, fulfilling prophets' word, to those who followed Jesus and who called him Lord. Disciples gathered near the temple courts in prayer. The Spirit blew and rested on those clustered there. 3 God's Spirit filled each one as Jesus had foretold. In many tongues they spoke God's word, renewed and bold. "Repent and be baptized," preached Peter in that hour, and thousands came believing by the Spirit's power. 4 God's church alive today continues to proclaim salvation by the Spirit's power in Jesus' name. Let all believers now their tongues and lives employ. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: our highest joy! Scripture: Acts 2:38 Languages: English Tune Title: LEONI
