Psalm 103 Part 1

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts, The #Ps.226 (1806) Meter: 6.6.8.6 Topics: God his universal dominion First Line: O bless the Lord, my soul! Lyrics: O bless the Lord, my soul! Let all within me join, And aid my tongue to bless his name Whose favors are divine. O bless the Lord, my soul, Nor let his mercies lie Forgotten in unthankfulness, And without praises die. 'Tis he forgives thy sins, 'Tis he relieves thy pain, 'Tis he that heals thy sicknesses And makes thee young again. He crowns thy life with love, When ransomed from the grave; He that redeemed my soul from hell Hath sovereign power to save. He fills the poor with good, He gives the suff'rers rest; The Lord hath judgments for the proud, And justice for th' oppressed. His wondrous works and ways He made by Moses known But sent the world his truth and grace By his beloved Son. Scripture: Psalm 103:1-7 Languages: English

Psalm 103 Part 2

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts, The #Ps.227 (1806) Meter: 6.6.8.6 Topics: God his universal dominion First Line: My soul, repeat his praise Lyrics: My soul, repeat his praise, Whose mercies are so great, Whose anger is so slow to rise, So ready to abate. God will not always chide; And when his strokes are felt, His strokes are fewer than our crimes, And lighter than our guilt. High as the heav'ns are raised Above the ground we tread, So far the riches of his grace Our highest thoughts exceed. His power subdues our sins, And his forgiving love Far as the east is from the west Doth all our guilt remove. The pity of the Lord, To those that fear his name, Is such as tender parents feel; He knows our feeble frame. He knows we are but dust, Scattered with every breath; His anger, like a rising wind, Can send us swift to death. Our days are as the grass, Or like the morning flower; If one sharp blast sweep o'er the field It withers in an hour. But thy compassions, Lord, To endless years endure; And children's children ever find Thy words of promise sure. Scripture: Psalm 103:8-18 Languages: English

Ye boundless realms of joy

Hymnal: Church Hymn Book #P.CXLVIII (1816) Topics: Universal Praise Lyrics: 1 Ye boundless realms of joy, Exalt your Maker's fame; His praise your song employ Above the starry frame; Your voices raise, ye Cherubim And Seraphim, to sing his praise. 2 Thou moon, that rul'st the night, And sun, that guid'st the day, Ye glitt'ring stars of light, To him your homage pay: His praise declare, ye heav'ns above, And clouds that move in liquid air. 3 Let them adore the Lord, And praise his holy name, By whose almighty word They all from nothing came; And all shall last, from changes free; His firm decree stands ever fast. 4 Let earth her tribute pay, Praise him ye dreadful whales, And fish that through the sea Glide swift with glitt'ring scales; Fire, hail, and snow, and misty air, And winds that, where he bids them, blow. 5 By hills and mountains, all In grateful concert join'd; By cedars stately tall, And trees for fruit design'd; By ev'ry beast, and creeping thing, And fowl of wing, his name be blest. 6 Let all of royal birth, With those of humbler frame, And judges of the earth, His matchless praise proclaim: In this design, let youths with maids, And hoary heads with children join. 7 United zeal be shown, His wondrous fame to raise, Whose glorious name alone Deserves our endless praise: Earth's utmost ends his power obey; His glorious sway the sky transcends. 8 His chosen saints to grace, He sets them up on high, And favours Israel's race, Who still to him are nigh: O therefore raise your grateful voice, And still rejoice the Lord to praise. Father of all! in ev'ry age

Hymnal: A Collection of Psalms and Hymns for Publick Worship #CLXIII (1789) Topics: Universal Prayer Lyrics: 1 Father of all! in ev'ry age, In ev'ry clime ador'd, By saint, by savage, and by sage, JEHOVAH, JOVE, or LORD! 2 Thou great First Cause! least understood! Who all my sense confin'd To know but this — that thou art good, And that myself am blind; 3 Yet gave me, in this dark estate, To see the good from ill, And, binding nature fast in fate, Left free the human will: — 4 What conscience dictates to be done, Or warns me not to do, This teach me more than hell to shun, That, more than heav'n pursue: 5 What blessings thy free bounty gives, Let me not cast away; For God is paid, when man receives; T' enjoy is to obey. 6 Yet not to earth's contracted span Thy goodness let me bound, Or think thee Lord alone of man, When thousand worlds are round. 7 Let not this weak, unknowing hand Presume thy bolts to throw, And deal damnation round the land, On each I judge thy foe. 8 If I am right, O teach my heart Still in the right to stay; If I am wrong, thy grace impart, To find the better way. 9 Save me alike from foolish pride, Or impious discontent, At aught thy wisdom has deny'd, Or aught thy goodness lent. 10 Teach me to feel another's wo, To hide the fault I see; That mercy I to others show, That mercy show to me. 11 Mean tho' I am, not wholly so, Since quicken'd by thy breath; O lead me wheresoe'er I go, Thro' this day's life or death. 12 This day, be bread and peace my lot; All else beneath the sun Thou know'st if best bestow'd, or not — And let thy will be done. 13 To THEE, whose temple is all space — Whose altar, earth, sea, skies — One chorus let all being raise! All nature's incense rise! Languages: English
