Author of "I've a long time heard that there will be a judgment" In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

John Palmer Reese

1828 - 1900 Person Name: J. P. Reese Arranger of "THE GREAT DAY" in The Sacred Harp John Palmer "Ripples" Reese was born in Jasper County, Georgia. After service in the Civil War as a member of the 37th Georgia Infantry, he spent most of his life as a composer and singing instructor in the Sacred Harp movement. He was a revisor for the 1859 edition of The Sacred Harp. He was president of the Chattahoochee Convention. Reese died in 1900, in Newnan, Georgia. Antonio Higgins
