307. On the Green Branches in Dim Forest

1 On the green branches in the dim forest,
Where the breezes gently go,
Wee little birds in wee little cradles
Trustfully swing to and fro.

2 Beautiful stars in heaven are shining,
Twinkling softly far away.
Beautiful blossoms gladden the meadows—
God is near by night and day.

3 When the dark shadows gather about us,
When the morning gilds the sky,
Blessed Lord Jesus, guard us and keep us,
Thou good Shepherd from on high.

Amen.
