16264. Take Thy Pastor's Prayer And Blessing

1 Take thy pastor’s prayer and blessing
Ere thou goest from his care;
Peace with God in Christ possessing,
May thy soul His mercies share.

2 Bear in mind the promise spoken
At the altar of the Lord;
Tremble lest the vow be broken,
And sin’s wages thy reward.

3 Joy and love and hope o’erflowing
Shall thy happy portion be,
If thy soul with fervor glowing
Cleave to Jesus steadfastly.

4 Sorrow’s path may lie before thee;
But if Christ be all thy stay,
Thou art passing on to glory,
And His grace will smooth the way.

5 Let thy prayers be daily offered
With a strong adoring faith,
In the name of Him who suffered
To redeem thy soul from death.

6 May each sun that o’er thee shineth
See thee feeding on His word,
Till at last when strength declineth,
Thou art meet to join thy Lord.

7 And, when life’s last hour is ending,
May thy loved ones see thee blest;
Unto Christ thy soul commending
As it gains its heav’nly rest.
