A Fox Has a Den

Author: Mary Nelson Keithahn Hymnal: Faith That Lets Us Sing #4 (2017) Meter: 5.5.5.5 D Lyrics: 1 A fox has a den, a bird has a nest, yet Jesus the Christ had no place to rest, save for a manger in dim, dusty room, an old, rugged cross, a newly-made tomb. 2 Now risen, Christ walks the streets of our town, befriending the poor wherever they’re found, sharing the trials of those without homes, and bearing their pain in feeling alone. 3 How can we leave you, Christ, there with the poor, to share in the life that they must endure? Here in our hearts there is room! Be our guest! Christ said, “I can’t come without all the rest. 4 “When I was hungry, you saw I was fed; with no place to sleep, you gave me a bed. You were good neighbors when I had no home, now welcome the least, my loved ones, my own.” 5 Compassionate Christ, forgive us, we pray, that we have ignored the poor in this way. Give us your vision to see in each face a neighbor in need of our love and grace. Scripture: Matthew 8:20 Languages: English Tune Title: CARTER'S TUNE

A Woman Was Sick

Author: Mary Nelson Keithahn Hymnal: Faith That Lets Us Sing #8 (2017) Meter: 5.5.5.5 D Lyrics: 1 A woman was sick and took to her bed. She had a fever, an ache in her head. Her daughter cried out, “Oh, Simon, my dear, my mother’s so ill! She’s dying, I fear!” 2 Her husband replied, “Now don’t be afraid! I will ask Jesus to come to her aid. He’s just up the street, not that far away. I know that he plans to come here today.” 3 When Jesus arrived he stood at her bed, touched her hand gently, and raised up her head. The woman was healed, her fever was gone! She rose to serve him as she’d always done. 4 The news quickly spread throughout the whole land: Jesus had saved her with his healing hand! The sick came in droves, the blind, and the lame, to be healed as well in Love’s holy name. 5 Find hope in these signs God's reign has begun, hope in believing what Jesus has done. Take heart in the one, made well by his care, who rose up to serve and gratefully share. Topics: Healing Languages: English Tune Title: HEALING TOUCH

Author: James Montgomery Hymnal: Sacred Poems and Hymns #336 (1854) Meter: 5.5.5.5 D Lyrics: O come, let us raise Our tribute of song; Thanksgiving and praise To Jesus belong:-- He came from above Our bliss to begin, Make perfect in love, And free us from sin. 357 The old and the young, His people by choice, With heart, soul, and tongue, In Him may rejoice:-- We meet Him to-day Triumphantly crown'd, And welcome His way, In chorus around. Hosanna!--that word To children is dear; To Jesus our Lord, We'll echo it here;-- Let worldlings despise, And enemies rail, Hosannas shall rise, Hosannas prevail.
