Give Us the Battle

Representative Text

1 Give us the battle, Lord Jehovah,
Strongly the foes beset us 'round;
Strengthen our hearts for the conflict,
Let thy sustaining grace abound.

Chorus:
Give us the battle, Lord Jehovah,
Lead us to victory in thy name;
Give us the battle, Lord Jehovah,
Wilt thou thy might and thy pow'r proclaim?

2 Give us the battle, lead us onward,
Help us to triumph over sin;
Self, thro' thy love, may we conquer,
Keep thou our frail hearts pure within. [Chorus]

3 Give us the battle, we are ready
Onward to move at thy command;
On thy sure promises relying,
Firmly for thee, dear Lord, we stand. [Chorus]

4 Give us the battle, Lord Jehovah,
Strengthen thy legions for the fight;
Strong are the foes that beset us,
Give us thy grace and holy night. [Chorus]
