Jacques Blumenthal (Jacob), born in Hamburg, Oct 4, 1829. Pianist, pupil of Grund in Hamburg, and of Bocklet and Sechter in Vienna, and from 1846 of Herz and Halévy in Paris. In 1848 he went to London and became a fashionable teacher, and pianist to the Queen. besides compositions for the violin and violoncello, and pianoforte, he has written many songs.
