When the Lilies I Consider

When the lilies I consider

Author: R. Roberts
Tune: [When the lilies I consider]
Published in 2 hymnals

Audio files: MIDI

Representative Text

1 When the lilies I consider,
How they grow so pure and fair,
Clothed in all their wondrous beauty,
I can trust my Father’s care.

Refrain:
I was wearied, I was worried with my trouble,
And my heart by its burden was oppress’d;
Now I’ve learn’d my Saviour’s lesson on the lilies,
And I find by its teaching perfect rest.

2 I will cast my care on Jesus,
For He ever cares for me,
And in ev’ry fiery trial
He my strength and stay shall be. [Refrain]

3 Even as the lily groweth,
In the great Creator’s care,
So I safely rest in Jesus,
Who will all my burdens bear. [Refrain]
