Person Name: Anon. Author of "When thickly beat the storms of life" in The Psalmist In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

Gurdon Robins
1813 - 1883 Author of "When Thickly Beat the Storms of Life" in The Cyber Hymnal Robins, Gurdon, an American bookseller, was born at Hartford, Connecticut, Nov. 7, 1813. Two of his hymns appeared anonymously in The Psalmist (Boston, 1843): (1) "There is a land mine eye hath seen" (Heaven); (2) "When thickly beat the storms of life" (God a Rock).
