Author of "High Word of God" in The Cyber Hymnal In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

Charles Bigg

1840 - 1908 Translator (from Latin) of "High Word of God" in The Cyber Hymnal Bigg, Charles, D.D., son of Thomas Bigg, was born in 1840 at Higher Broughton, Manchester, and was educated at Manchester Grammar School and at Corpus Christi College, Oxford (Scholar 1859; B.A. 1862). He became a Senior Student of Christ Church 1862, tutor 1863, M.A. 1864, D.D. 1876; returning to Christ Church in 1901 as Canon and Regius Prof, of Eccles. History. He was Bampton Lecturer in 1886, and is the author of various theological works. He contributed two translations (2, 49) to The English Hymnal, 1906.
