Richard Abel Kinzie

1842 - 1918 Person Name: R. A. Kinzie Composer of "[No room for Him, in whose small hand]" in The Cyber Hymnal Richard Abel Kinzie (last name also spelled Kenzie, Kensey, Kinsey) was born in Ohio in 1842 and raised in Geneseo, Illinois. He served as a bugler during the Civil War for the 9th Illinois Cavalry and in the postwar era for the 13th U.S. Infantry. Kinzie taught music in Geneseo after the war, and by the 1880s had moved to Kansas where he taught at the State Normal School in Emporia. He later taught music and sold pianos and organs in Cherryvale, Kansas. He died in 1918.
