The lamp that will guide

What though the darkness surround

Author: E. S. Lorenz
Tune: [What though the darkness surround our way]
Published in 1 hymnal

Audio files: MIDI

Representative Text

1 What though the darkness surround our way,
What though the shadows obscure our day,
Still we press on, for we need not stray,
There’s a lamp that will guide our feet.

Refrain:
Glorious light,
Shining forth from the Book divine,
Making the way of life so plain,
The way that we all must go!
Glorious light,
Like the sun doth it ever shine!
Why need we fear, its counsel is near
The path of the just to show!

2 Brightly that light on our path doth shine,
Marking each pitfall, each foe malign;
Gladly our guidance we now resign
To the lamp that will guide our feet. [Refrain]

3 Lamp to our feet, to our path a light,
Still on our way beam thy rays so bright;
Fear and alarm now have taken flight
Since thy glory directs our feet. [Refrain]
