A Guiding hand I Clearly Trace

Representative Text

1 A guiding hand I clearly trace
Along my earthly way,
A Father’s hand, in pow’r and grace,
Upholding day by day;
And ever, as I onward go,
More bright the way appears,
Adown the shining pathway,—
The pathway of the years.

Chorus:
I do not ask to see,
It is enough for me
To know my Father leads,
And that His presence cheers;
My pathway He will trace,
And by His love and grace,
Will make a shining pathway,
A pathway thru the years.

2 ‘Tis good to know that I am led
By His almighty hand,
That ways which sometimes fill with dread
Are ways which love has planned;
That all that is is best for me,
In spite of doubts and fears,
Adown the shining pathway,—
The pathway of the years. [Chorus]

3 I will not ask that I may see
The path that lies before;
My Father’s hand is holding me,
Why should I ask for more?
I know His love and pow’r will make,
Thru mingled smiles and tears
For me a shining pathway,
A pathway thru the years. [Chorus]
