Easter Hymn

Angels watched that sacred room

Author: Ernest Holmes
Published in 1 hymnal

Representative Text

1 Angels watched that sacred room,
Hushed with silence of the tomb,
While shafts of heaven's holy Light
Pierced the darkness of the night.
Angels still shall guard our day
And lead us gently on the way,
Lead us thru fear, thru doubt and pain
As sunshine follows after rain.

2 Ever angels watch by men
Bringing joy and hope again,
The Love that knows no fear or hate
Love that flows thru heaven's gate.
Thou, the Life, the Truth, the Way,
Who taught us how to love and pray,
Grant that evry ev'ning tide
Shall find us walking by Thy side.

3 Life and Love, Thy boundless sight,
Have turned earth's darkness into light,
While deep within has called to deep
Awakening what seemed sleep.
Son of God forever near,
Thy love within us casts out fear,
It stills the wind and soothes the wave
With Thee we triump o'er the grave.
