Branford Clarke was born 18 March 1885 in London, England. He emigrated to the United States in 1913 and became a minister in the Pillar of Fire International Church in Brooklyn in 1921. He worked closely with Alma White, the founder of the church, illustrating her publications, which promoted the Ku Klux Klan and attacked various minorities. He is also noted for his Model T Mobile Chapel, a small chapel mounted on a Model T Ford, which was had stained glass windows, an organ, and a fold down steeple. He wrote poems which were set to music by his wife, Esther, and appear in the denomination's hymnal "Cross and Crown Hymnal" Dianne Shapiro, from "Christianizing the Klan: Alma White, Brandford Clarke, and the Art of Religious Intolerance"… Go to person page >
