1 Branches of the one true Vine,
Children of the risen King!
Let your clusters richly swell,
Steadfastly "Abide in Him."
2 Only in the living Vine
Can the branches life retain;
Only in her glorious Head
Can the bride His glory gain.
3 Fruitless, withered branches, all--
When they see Him face to face;
Must their bitter portion find--
Burning shame, and dire disgrace.
4 Branches rich in sap and fruit;
Confidence, that slays all fear,
Shall in blissful peace prevail
When before Him ye appear.
5 Glorious hope of perfect bliss--
With Him! like Him! safe from sin!
There to sing the song of life,
Tuned by those who bide in Him.
6 Living Lord, enthroned in light,
Hasten Thy return from Heaven;
Boundless glory is Thy right,
Endless praise to Thee be given.
